Kate Osborne
Kate osborne
Kate Osborne’s distinctive paintings of allotments and horticultural paraphernalia are essentially abstract, but contain secret elements. She uses a limited palate to great effect, presented with sensitive individual mark making.
Kate studied textile design at Northbrook College, West Sussex, from 1972 to 1976 before becoming a floral designer for textile studios in London. In 1979, she moved to Los Angeles where she freelanced creating production-ready artwork for manufacturers.
Kate then spent a year in New Mexico - living in a shack in an old coal mining town - painting wildlife and botanical subjects and showing her work in a Sante Fe gallery. In 1984, she returned to the UK, illustrating textiles as well as books, magazines and advertising.
More recently, Kate has returned to painting exhibiting at the Society of Wildlife Artists at the Mall Galleries, London, as well as at Cameron Contemporary Art in Hove where she is now based.
