 Introduction

We are delighted to present Luke Hannam's third solo exhibition, FIGURES.  This powerful show focuses on his continuing fascination with the depiction of the human figure.  Luke is an obsessive drawer and sketcher and he has returned to the source material of the hundreds of sketches and drawings in his studio to provide the inspiration for this show.  Figurative work has always played a part in his work but for this  show the figure is absolutely centre stage. His trademark  colour, energy and range is again on display and the work is as captivating and collectable as ever.

A stunning show from a hugely exciting artist.

Born in 1966, Luke studied Fine Art in the 1980s and while others faithfully chanted the conceptual mantra of the time Luke perfected his drawing skills and drew inspiration from the early 20th century French painters – particularly Henri Matisse and Picasso.

His  move to a quiet village in East Sussex  afforded the space and time needed to develop his practice - each painting is drawn or indeed wrenched from the bottom of his boots. Whether on a large or small scale every work has an immediacy and punch that is truly inspiring.

We think Luke Hannam is a rare talent and are thrilled to present his work.
